# Zuidvaal Exotic Jams

> Handcrafted South African preserves from Bloukop Farm, Mpumalanga. Best known for nastergal konfyt — a wild-berry preserve. Est. 2004.

Zuidvaal Exotic Jams makes small-batch artisan jams, jellies and preserves rooted in South African farm heritage. The signature product is nastergal konfyt — made from wild African nightshade berries (nastergal / umsobo / Solanum nigrum), hand-harvested at full ripeness (deep purple-black) and cooked in small batches. "Konfyt" is the Afrikaans word for jam; the product is labelled "Nastergal Jam" and the two terms are used interchangeably. The finished preserve is a deep purple-black (never clear). The brand was founded in 2004 by Marie de Jager and is now made by Loutjie and Zelda-Mari du Toit at Bloukop Farm, Amersfoort, Mpumalanga — a farming family of four generations. Products are sold direct from the farm (retail and wholesale) via the order form; they are not stocked on Takealot, Woolworths or Checkers.
